Buddies Music & UGC Policy
Effective Date: July 19, 2025
Buddies allows users to create and share videos, which may include music
or other audio. This policy explains the rules for uploading, using, and
interacting with audio content on our platform.
1. User-Generated Content (UGC)
-
Users are responsible for all content they upload, including music,
sounds, or voice recordings.
-
You may only upload audio you:
• Created yourself, or
•
Have explicit permission or license to use.
2. Audio Metadata
-
Buddies may use services like AudD to detect song metadata, including:
- Song title
- Artist
- Album art
-
This metadata is informational only and does not
grant any rights to use or distribute the song.
3. Audio Playback Rules
-
Audio in your uploaded videos will only play
together with the video.
-
Independent playback of songs (audio-only, detached from video) is not
allowed without proper licensing.
-
Any audio preview or hidden-video playback is legally considered part
of the video, not a separate song distribution.
4. Prohibited Actions
- Upload audio or music you do not have rights to.
-
Distribute, stream, or enable playback of songs independently from
videos.
-
Attempt to bypass copyright rules or promote unlicensed music use.
-
Use the app to create a public music library or music service without
licensing.

Buddies complies with copyright law and will respond to takedown
requests promptly.

from their audio usage.
7. Future Licensing
-
When Buddies obtains music licenses from labels, features like “Use
this audio” or independent audio playback may become available.
- Until then, all users must follow this policy.
